Agata Elia

PhD Fellow

Agata Elia holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering (2016), with a final dissertation titled “A quality comparison between professional and crowdsourced data in emergency mapping for potential cooperation of the services - The case of Nepal earthquake in 2015” developed at ITHACA. She is currently a PhD fellow at the DIST department of Politecnico di Torino. 

She has experience with the UN-FAO and with NGOs in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on geospatial and remotely sensed data processing and management. Among others, she worked on climate data management, land cover products, training of specialized staff, field data surveys planning and collection and tools development. She is particularly interested in Free and Open Source data and software. 

She is currently performing research in the field of displaced populations.
