The IGMASS system proposal

The International Academy of Astronautics (of which prof. Piero Boccardo is a member) has produced a document about the International Aerospace System for Monitoring of Global Geophysical Phenomena and Forecasting of Natural and Man-Caused Disasters, to submit to the United Nations.

The Academy of Astronautics (IAA) proposes to start work concerning creation of the International Aerospace System for Monitoring of Global Geophysical Phenomena and Forecasting of Natural and Man-Caused Disasters (IGMASS) under the aegis and leadership of UN. This system has to consist of space, air and ground facilities, to provide detection of short-time signs of global geophysical phenomena and man-caused disasters in the interesting of their prediction and weakening of their aftermath.

IAA asks UN to examine key aspects of IGMASS' creation and utilization in interesting of the whole international society, possibilities to realize proposed project in the frame of UN programs, for instance UN-SPIDER, and to submit it for examination by concerned UN committees and commissions.
