ITHACA is mapping service provider for EU emergency management

ITHACA, in consortium with the leading Italian e-Geos, the German GAF and the French SIRS, is in charge of the provision of mapping products to be delivered to the authorized users active in the field of crisis management in the EU Member States, in addition to the European Civil Protection Mechanism, the Commission's Directorates-General (DGs) and the participating executive agencies and international humanitarian aid.

The mapping in rush mode is a 24/7/365 service that guarantees within 24 hours from the receipt of the first satellite images the delivery of timely and accurate geospatial information in support to emergency management activities immediately following an emergency event, while the mapping in non-rush mode provides on-demand cartographic products in support to the emergency management cycle phases relating to prevention, preparedness and reconstruction.

The information generated are derived from satellite imaging sensor data and they concern all types of natural and man-made disasters, such as floods, land and forest fires, storms, earthquakes and tsunamis, as well as industrial accidents and humanitarian crises.
