Damage assessment in Port-au-Prince

ITHACA staff deployed in Port-au-Prince (Haiti) has started the damage assessment using the LCMMS (Low Cost Mobile Mapping System) jointly developed by Politecnico di Torino and ITHACA itself.

The system is equipped with 4 webcams and a GPS and it is able to acquire georeferenced frames with a field of view of about 160 degrees. The ground survey tracks include western Port-au-Prince, Leogane and part of Carrefour but several roads are blocked or not accessible due to rubble or spontaneous camps. An updated survey coverage situation is shown in this map.
